Problems uploading
The upload is stuck at "Optimising video for upload"
Most likely causes
- Your file is over 500 MB. Fix: wait. GRAPE MARS makes big files smaller in your browser first. A 1 GB file can take several minutes. The bar moves on to the upload stage.
- You closed the tab or the laptop lid. Fix: keep the tab open. Keep the laptop awake until the bar reaches 100%. The upload finishes.
- The browser has too little memory left. Fix: close other tabs and try once more. You can also make the file smaller yourself and upload that copy.
My file is refused before the upload starts
Most likely causes
- The file is over 2 GB. Fix: cut the video into parts, or save it at a lower quality. 2 GB is the hard limit.
- The file type is not MP4, MOV or WebM. Fix: save it as MP4 first. Most tools can do this. The file is accepted.
- You picked a folder, not a file. Fix: pick one file. The upload starts. To bring in a whole old project, use the guide "Import a project from the old GRAPE" instead.
The bar stops before the end and then fails
Most likely causes
- Your network dropped. Fix: check your connection, then start the upload again. The bar starts from zero. GRAPE MARS does not resume a part-finished upload.
- Your sign-in has expired. Fix: reload the page. Sign in again if you are asked. Then upload again. The bar reaches 100%.
- A browser add-on blocked the request. Fix: turn add-ons off for this site, or use a private window.
The upload finished but I cannot see the video
Most likely causes
- You are looking at a different project. Fix: open the project you uploaded into. The video appears in the list. A video can sit in more than one project.
- The page is showing an old version of the page. Fix: reload the page. The list is up to date.
- The upload finished after you left the page. Fix: wait a minute, then reload the page.
If the screen shows an error message, look it up in All error messages.
If it still does not work: contact support. Include the page address from the browser bar, the date and time, your browser and its version, the exact words on the screen, and what you clicked.
