Annotation
An annotation is a label you put on a time range of a video. Each one has an annotation type, a start time, and an end time. It can also hold text that you type. Each annotation takes its colour from its type. It also has one speaker and records the coder who made it. GRAPE MARS saves it the moment you make it, so there is no save button.
Example: A researcher marks the 8 seconds when a teacher points at the board. The type is "Gesture" and the sub-type is "deictic". The speaker is "Teacher".
Why it matters in GRAPE MARS
Annotations are the raw data of your study. You draw each one on a track, in the timeline under the video. GRAPE MARS then counts them, times them, and shows them in your charts and your exports. Autosave stores each mark as you make it.
