Word-level timing

Word-level timing means that each word in a transcript has its own start time and end time. Without it, the times stop at the segment. You know when a line starts, but not when one word inside it is said. AI transcription, which uses a tool called Whisper, gives you word-level timing. A transcript you upload as an SRT file has segment times only.

Example: A researcher looks for every time a student says "because". With word-level timing she lands on the word itself, not on the whole line around it.

Why it matters in GRAPE MARS

Word-level timing makes your searches exact. GRAPE MARS can go to the second a word is said, and can hold that word next to the annotations on your tracks. Without it, the app can only show you the line that holds the word.
