Category
A category is a group of annotation types. Each type in a library sits in one category. The category gives the group a name and a colour. Coverage and some charts report one figure per category, not one figure per type.
Example: The GRAPE Default library holds a category called EMBODIED MODES. Gesture, Gaze and Posture are 3 of its types. A second category, Engagement strategies, holds the types for how a class responds. A chart can then show 1 bar for each of the 2 groups.
Why it matters in GRAPE MARS
The Category Breakdown module counts the annotations in each group, so you read a lesson by group before you read it by type. Timeline Coverage does the same for time. If your library puts every type in one category, these charts show 1 figure and tell you little.
