Draft. The steps on this page are not yet checked on the live app.

What's new

This page lists changes you can see and use. It leaves out work under the surface, such as database changes. The newest sprint comes first. Items are grouped by sprint, because the status list carries no dates.

Sprint 2

The analysis pages became a workspace you build yourself. Speaker tabs and linguistic tagging arrived too.

  • Build your own analysis page by dragging modules onto it. See the guide "Add a module".
  • Your workspaces save and reopen where you left them. See the guide "How workspaces save".
  • Set the scope for a whole workspace, or per module: videos, time range, tracks and coders. See the guide "Set the workspace scope".
  • 11 modules: category breakdown, annotation distribution, duration distribution, timeline density, timeline coverage, co-occurrence heatmap, mode combinations, cross-video comparison, inter-rater agreement, concordance and linguistic profile.
  • Search annotations and words in context, with a video preview. See the guide "Search annotations in context".
  • Export a whole workspace to Excel, 1 sheet per module. See the guide "Export a workspace to Excel".
  • Annotate 1 speaker at a time. See the guide "Add a speaker".
  • GRAPE MARS tags your transcript for lemma, part of speech and named entities.
  • Limit a density analysis to one fragment, or combine density across videos.
  • See which annotation types occur together more often than chance.
  • Count tracks and duration tracks look different.
  • Add free-text tracks for your own comments.
  • Point at a chart on screen to read its values.
  • The old analysis pages are gone. Old links open the workspace list.

Fixes

  • Agreement scores are correct. Cohen's kappa had a calculation fault.
  • The screen and the report show the same numbers.
  • Reports show researcher names, not account codes.
  • Co-occurrence no longer counts overlaps between separate videos.
  • Coverage measures the real length of the video.
  • Videos and annotations open only for people in that project.
  • A viewer no longer draws annotations that cannot save.
  • Transcription handles long files that start with a quiet passage.

Sprint 1 (feedback sprint)

This sprint answered the first round of team feedback. Most items fixed saving, uploading and the library.

  • Transcription needs no API key. See the guide "Choose how transcription runs".
  • An import from the old GRAPE brings annotations and empty tracks. See the guide "Import a project from the old GRAPE".
  • Compare several videos in 1 module. See the guide "Module: Cross-video Comparison".
  • 3 cards on the dashboard show you where to start.
  • A tour runs the first time you open the annotator.
  • Remember me keeps you signed in for 30 days. An eye icon shows your password.
  • Sub-types have their own colours.
  • A Manage Library button opens the Library Manager, with clearer icons.
  • One drag creates an annotation. No double-click.
  • Build a Word report with charts.
  • Edit a transcript line in place.
  • Show the transcript as subtitles over the video.
  • See who else is in the video.
  • Invite a colleague to a project and give them a role.
  • The tools that review an AI suggestion are in place: dashed bars, a green tick, a red cross, Accept All and Reject All. No model can propose a bar yet. See the guide "Review AI suggestions".
  • Shot type and gesture models are announced but not ready. See "AI features announced".

Fixes

  • Your annotations save as you work, and so does your transcript. See the guide "How saving works".
  • Export works again, and so does the analysis view.
  • Apply Library works again.
  • An import that brought in no videos now brings them in.
  • The player recovers when a video fails to load.
  • The upload bar shows real progress, and a failed upload says why.
  • The scrub bar and play button are easier to use.
  • Status labels are clearer. GRAPE MARS asks before you cancel.

For administrators

  • Admin rights belong to an account, with permission levels.
  • The Project Status page shows what is done and next.
  • The admin sidebar stays in view, and every admin page links back.
  • An Insights page reports how the platform is used.
  • Run platform tests inside GRAPE MARS.
  • GRAPE MARS records each sign-in.
  • The AI services page lists the models in use.
