Move, resize or delete an annotation

Move a bar, change where it starts or ends, or delete it from the timeline.

Before you start

• Create an annotation by dragging

Move a bar

1. Press the mouse button in the middle of a bar. The pointer turns into a closed hand.
2. Drag left or right. The bar keeps its length and follows your mouse.
3. Drop it. The bar stays in its new place.

Change its length

1. Press the mouse button on the left or right end of a bar. The pointer turns into a two-headed arrow.
2. Drag the end. Only that end moves.
3. Drop it. The bar keeps its new length.

Delete a bar

1. Click the bar once. A yellow ring marks it.
2. Press Delete or Backspace. The bar is gone.

You can also open the bar with a double click, click Delete, then click Delete annotation.

What happens while you drag

Ends stop on nearby ends within 8 pixels, so your times line up. Zoom in when you need a value between 2 close ends.

On a track without overlap, a bar refuses to move onto another bar. Turn on Allow overlapping for that track to stack them.

Check it worked

Every bar is at least 0.1 seconds long. GRAPE MARS records the whole move or resize as one step, so one undo puts it back.

If something goes wrong

• Dragging feels jumpy
• I cannot put two annotations at the same moment
