Transcribe long or quiet videos
Transcribe a long or quiet video, and read the notes GRAPE MARS shows while it works.
Before you start
- A video file that plays in the annotator.
Steps
- Open the video in the annotator. The transcript panel sits at the right of the player.
- Click Transcribe with AI. GRAPE MARS takes the sound out of the video in your browser.
- Wait for the count in the panel. It reads
Transcribing… (part 2 of 8)and counts up. - Wait for the text. All the parts join into one transcript, in the right order.
Check it worked
Short sound goes in one piece. Sound of about 47 seconds or more goes in parts of 60 seconds each. The times still match the video.
A quiet start is a known trap. GRAPE MARS adds half a second of silence and lifts the sound of the first half second, so the first words are not lost. It does the same at the end. The times stay in step with the video.
Each part is small by design: 60 seconds of sound comes to about 1.9 MB, well under the 10 MB limit the server checks. You cannot reach Audio is 14MB — maximum is 10MB. Try a shorter video. from the annotator today. It would only appear if GRAPE MARS changed how it splits the sound.
A whole run stops after 2 minutes. For a long lesson, cut the video into shorter parts, or upload a transcript file.
If something goes wrong
- It stops and says the audio is too big
- Only part of my video was transcribed
- The transcript starts late and misses the opening
