Manage users and roles
See everyone with an account, and change what they may do on the site. Only a super-admin can change roles.
Before you start
- Any admin can read this list.
- Only a super-admin can change a role or delete an account. Other admins see "View only".
- A site role is not a project role. Owner, editor and viewer work inside one project.
Steps
- Open the Admin area. The Project Status page opens.
- Click Users in the bar on the left. A table lists up to 50 accounts, newest first.
- Type part of a name or an email in Search by name or email…. The table shrinks as you type.
- Select a role in the box next to the search. The table shows only that role.
Read a row
Each row gives the person's name and email, their role, how many projects and annotations they have, their last login, their last activity and the day they joined. Times read as "3 days ago". Move the pointer onto one. It shows the exact date.
Change a role (super-admin)
- Select a role in the small box at the end of the row. The choices are user, researcher and admin.
- Click OK if a question appears. A question appears only when you select admin, so GRAPE MARS can confirm before it grants admin rights.
Setting the role to user or researcher needs no confirmation; the table shows the new role at once.
You cannot take away your own admin rights. GRAPE MARS says "You cannot remove your own admin access."
Delete an account (super-admin)
- Click the bin at the end of the row. A question asks you to confirm.
- Click OK. The row goes.
This removes the person and all their data. You cannot undo it. Ask first.
Check it worked
The row shows the new role at once. A deleted row leaves the table.
