Transcribe again

Replace the transcript a video has now with a fresh AI run. Do this to gain word-level timing.

Before you start

  • Export a copy of the text you have. A new run replaces it, and your edits go with it.

Steps

  1. Open the video in the annotator. The transcript panel sits at the right of the player.
  2. Click Re-transcribe at the foot of the panel. Your browser asks This will replace the existing transcript. Continue?
  3. Click OK. The panel reads Transcribing…
  4. Wait for the new text. The words appear in the panel.

Check it worked

The header shows the word sync badge and a new number of lines. Play the video: each word lights up as it is said.

Run this when the text came from a file, or when the words stopped lighting up. Only an AI run gives word-level timing.

If the video has a language, tagging runs again on the new text by itself.

Set the language first when you can. GRAPE MARS passes it to the AI as a hint, and the text comes out better.
