Choose how transcription runs

See who runs your transcripts and what they cost you. There is nothing to set up: transcription is free and always on.

Before you start

• Sign in.

Steps

1. Open Settings from the bar at the top of the page. The settings page opens.
2. Click AI Services in the list on the left. A blue note at the top reads Transcription is free.
3. Wait for the AI Transcription card to load, near the foot of the page. The card shows 2 green badges: Included free and Active.

There is nothing to choose

GRAPE MARS runs every transcript on one built-in service, Cloudflare Workers AI. It is on for everybody, all the time. You do not set it up, you do not pick a model, and you do not pay for it.

Your own AI key is a separate thing. GRAPE MARS uses that key for AI help with annotations, never for transcripts. So the AI tools stay off until you add a key, while transcription still works.

Check it worked

The AI Transcription card shows the green Active badge. Open a video and click Transcribe. The run starts without asking you for a key.

If something goes wrong

• It asks me for an AI key
• It stops and says the audio is too big
• The text shows sentences, not words
