Module: Timeline Density

Add a chart that shows where the busy moments of a video are, over its whole length.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Click Add module. The drawer opens on the right.
  2. Click + next to Timeline Density. The module lands at the foot of the page.
  3. Wait for the chart to draw. Time runs from left to right.

Check it worked

The card says "Annotations active over time, stacked by category".

Height is the number of annotations active at that moment. A mark counts in every moment it covers, not only where it starts. So one long mark holds the line up for a long stretch.

Each category is a band in its own color. The bands sit on top of each other, so the top of the chart is the total.

GRAPE MARS splits the time span into about 200 steps, and never uses a step under 1 second. A short fragment therefore gives you a finer chart than a whole lesson.

The Excel sheet holds a Time column, a Total column, and one further column for each category.

This module has no settings of its own.
