Count tracks and duration tracks

Set whether each track counts how many times something happens, or measures how long it lasts. Charts and exports use this choice.

Before you start

What the setting means

Every track row in the Library Manager has 2 buttons for this.

  • # Count occurrences means the track answers "how many times?". Use it for events, such as a nod or a cut.
  • ⏱ Measure duration means the track answers "how long?". Use it for states, such as gaze at the board.

The setting changes only what your charts put first. It never changes your bars. You still drag a start and an end on both kinds of track.

Steps

  1. Click Manage Library at the foot of the track panel. The Library Manager opens.
  2. Click # Count occurrences or ⏱ Measure duration on the track row. The chosen button turns blue.
  3. Click Apply Library. The setting is stored with the library.

Check it worked

Open the Library Manager again. The button you chose is still blue. New tracks start as count tracks.

This setting is separate from Library and Free text. A free-text track can be a count track or a duration track.
